Basic Steamed Rice
Microwave rice in 25 minutes

[Makes 4 cups]    Cooking time: 25 minutes
 

2 cups long grain white rice, washed and drained
2 1/2 cups boiling water

Image of puring boiling water over rice 1. Pour the rice in a 3-quart casserole and add boiling water. Cover with a vented microwave lid.

2. Cook on HIGH (1200W) for 5 minutes or until the liquid boils. Switch to LOW(30%) and cook for 14 minutes.

3. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes with the cover on.

4. Fluff rice lightly with a fork.

* When using plastic wrap as a cover, poke a hole in the center to release the steam.
